Bob Jones
30/01/1941 -17/11/2024
We are deeply sorry to advise of the passing on Sunday 17 November 2024 of long time member Bob Jones (Membership No: 1259).
Bob & Margaret joined the MRADMC on the 1st of March 2007 and were staunch members and supporters of the club. His pride and joy, (apart from his family), was his 12-cylinder, 1935 Lincoln Le Baron Coupe. The link below will take you to an interview he did with Graeme Lemin some time ago. Our thoughts & prayers go to Margaret and the family in this very sad time.
Bob's 1935 Lincoln LeBaron Coupe
John Charles Mallia
1947-2024
As if losing Bill wasn't hard enough, sadly we have lost another much loved member John Mallia, John also had a fall at home and after a period of time in hospital, the family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off John's life support machine.
John had been a member of our club for 27 years, joining the MRADMC in October of 1997, he was allocated membership number 1050. He loved his Wolseley's and was also a member of the Wolseley Car Club of Victoria, where he had been a member for 40 years, and had held the positions of President, Vice President, Regalia Officer, and for many years had been a life member.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sandra, Darryl, and all of John's family and friends during this very sad time, he will be sadly missed.
David William "Bill" Clampit
1934 – 2024
The President and Committee of the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club wish to express their deep sympathy to Bill's family on their loss. A Life Member of our Club, Bill's loss will be keenly felt. Rest in peace.
One of our much loved and esteemed members, Bill Clampit passed away on the morning of Friday 25 October 2024, who was in hospital after a recent fall. Bill joined the MRADMC in June of 1993 and with membership number 1008, is the third lowest number on our books, making him a founding member of our club, he became a life member in 2015.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jenni, the family and friends during this very sad time.
Jeffrey Brian Hall
1961 – 2023
Sadly, we have lost yet another of our long-standing members with the passing of Jeff Hall (Membership No: 1244), on 11 September 2023 after a long battle with Cancer.
Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Vivien, Natasha, Vanessa & Jared, his extended family and to all who knew him, either as a friend of many years or just as some guy who knew just about everything about cars in general and Z cars in particular. Jeff joined the club around 2006, with his wife and two young daughters. The family attended club events with enthusiasm right up until his death. His Zephyr was a regular attendee at many of our club events and he enjoyed being part of the clubs display at the Australian Formula 1 GP.
Jeff's funeral was held on Friday the 25th of September at the Joyce Chapel in the Fawkner Cemetery complex and was well attended by not only MRADMC members, but a great turn out of cars and members from the Zephyr Zodiac Owners Car Club of Melbourne, of which Jeff had been a member for over 40 years.
After the funeral service there was a cavalcade of classic & modern cars that followed the hearse up to the Riddell's Creek cemetery for his final journey. After the grave side service, we gathered at the Riddell's Creek Pub, to reminisce on Jeff's life.
Peter Edward Black
1945 – 2023
It is my sad duty to inform members of the recent passing of our esteemed member Peter Black (Membership No: 1491) who has succumbed to a serious illness and passed away on 24th June 2023.

Trevor Lindon Kellett
1942 – 2021
Sadly I must advise you that we have lost yet another member of the club. Trevor Kellett (Membership No: 1241) passed away late last week after a very long illness. For those who remember Trevor, both he and his wife Ann were staunch supporters of the club and would attend everything together. Even when Trevor got sick & was wheelchair bound, as a true, 'Yorkshire Tyke', (The term (Yorkshire) tyke is used as a nickname for a person from Yorkshire), he refused to give up and Ann did everything she could to get him to club functions which he still enjoyed. Unfortunately his illness became worse and ultimately he became house bound, but still enjoyed getting his copy of Motor Mouth and keeping up to date with what was going on in the club.
To Ann & both her & Trevor's extended families we have extended our deepest condolences & have offered whatever help we can during this very trying time. Trevor was laid to rest at Altona Memorial Park on 17 December 2021.
Phyllis Xerri
06/05/1954 - 05/09/ 2018
George Xerri
22/05/1949 - 08/12/2021
Phyllis and George Xerri (Membership #1628) joined the club around 2014. They consistently attended the monthly General Meetings, where Phyllis often brought laughter to the room with her phone's ringtone featuring "Who Let The Dogs Out." Their magnificent black and yellow 1959 Ford Skyliner Retractable Roof Convertible always attracted attention at every event they attended. Sadly, they both passed away much too soon.
Stanley Mason
28/06/1930 - 14/07/2021
We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Stanley Mason (Member #1402), who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the Sunshine Hospital on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the remarkable age of 91. He cherished attending our monthly meetings at the clubrooms and enjoyed sharing his experiences with his family for days afterward. He embraced life wholeheartedly and loved making people laugh; his presence is already greatly missed. Stanley passed away quietly. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Brenda and his children Stephen, Leanne, Robert, Craig, and Gregory, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is now resting peacefully.
Debbie Anne Dole
13/7/1956 - 13/9/2020
It was with great sadness that we announce the loss of another long-time member of our club, Debbie Dole (Membership No. 1206). For quite some time, Debbie had been battling a serious, undiagnosed blood disorder, which ultimately turned out to be advanced pancreatic cancer. After an incredibly brave fight, she sadly passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at around 4:15pm. Many of us were unaware of just how sick she was, as Debbie preferred to keep her struggles private, not wanting anyone to fuss over her and simply wishing to carry on with her life without being treated any differently.
Debbie and her husband, Gary, joined the MRADMC in March 2005. Their easy-going nature and shared passion for classic vehicles helped them quickly forge friendships within the club. Throughout her time with us, Debbie was always among the first to lend a hand, taking on several roles, including Catering and Rally Director. However, the position she cherished most was catering at the Annual Picnic at Hanging Rock Car Show.
Debbie will be deeply missed by all. On behalf of the club, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Gary, their two children, as well as their five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, along with everyone who's been touched by her life.
Deb's funeral took place on Friday, October 2nd, in Ballarat. Due to Covid-19 restrictions on travel and gatherings, only family members could attend, Deb's ashes were return to Melton, this gave anyone who wished to stop by for a cup of tea and a chat a chance to find some closure in spending time with her before she was taken to her final resting place at Bonnie Doon.

John Bruce
02 Dec 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Bruce (Membership #1190) after a courageous battle with illness. John joined our club around the year 2000, and his beloved Austin Healey was a testament to his passion for life and the joy of our community. He remained a cherished attendee at our Monthly General Meetings up until his final year. John's warm and kind spirit touched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be lovingly remembered and sincerely missed.
Gordon Gernhoefer
27/04/1942 - 14/06/2018
It was with sadness that we share the news of the passing of our respected member, Gordon (Member #1365). Gordon and his wife, Shirley, joined the club in 2010 and quickly became regular attendees at events and weekend outings. They were integral to our midweek runs and developed strong friendships with many of the regular participants.
The significant impact Gordon had on the Kilmore community was evident by the large crowd that gathered at the Kilmore Golf Club to honor him. He will be greatly missed by many members of our club. Rest in peace, Gordon.
Bruce Goodson
01/05/1945- 26/10/2017
We were deeply saddened by the sudden loss of serving member and friend Bruce Goodson (Member #1503). Bruce was an enthusiastic Member of Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club and will be deeply missed.

Ian Goldsworthy
06/06/1963 - 21/8/2017
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Life Member Ian Goldsworthy. Ian joined the club just a few weeks after its inception and was at the first official meeting held on 07/02/1984 (Member #1024), and his contributions to the club from that day forward were unparalleled. One only needs to look around the clubrooms to see his name listed in many positions on the boards.
Ian represented the members on the Committee for many years as President, Rally Director and Editor to name a few, and was a regular volunteer at Hanging Rock, where he took charge of traffic in the main driveway with an iron fist. He led the innovative "Buy a Brick" fundraiser to enhance the clubrooms and strengthen community ties.
During every meeting he attended, Ian's voice was always heard. His love for the club compelled him to share his well-respected opinions. He was greatly admired by the members, and his counsel on club matters was invaluable, he was awarded Club Person of the Year and made a Life member in 1991. Many new members were welcomed to the club with a firm handshake and a friendly, "G'Day Mate."
The auction at the AGM was always a highlight, as Ian and Graeme took control, with Ian's dry wit often bringing laughter to the members. Many have sought his assistance with Blue Oval cars, thanks to his extraordinary knowledge and willingness to help others, reflecting his generous character.Ian was a down-to-earth man with a great sense of humor and a welcoming nature. Members like him are the foundation of clubs like ours, and he will be profoundly missed. Rest in peace, mate.
Graeme Blaxland
24/10/1941 - 19/03/2017
We were saddened to advise members of the passing of Graeme Blaxland (Member # 1504) who passed away on 19 March 2017. Our deepest sympathy was extended to Robyn, Adam and Renee on Graeme's passing.
John Macrae
07/02/1955 - 06/12/2015
Sadly, at the end of 2015, we lost another dear club member and Life Member, John Macrae (Member #1143). John officially joined the club in April 2002 with his beloved Fairlane 500 Galaxie, affectionately known as "the tank." However, he was involved with the club long before his official membership. He would often accompany Graeme Lemin, and when help was needed for the children's races at Hanging Rock, John stepped up to the plate.
He loved attending club events, especially the Chrysler Challenge with the Chrysler Restorers Club and the bowling nights with the Western Restorers. John truly valued the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. He particularly enjoyed the camaraderie at the Picnic at Hanging Rock, which is the main event on the MRADMC calendar.
During his time with the club, John held various positions, serving several years as Membership Officer and Treasurer and enthusiastically taking on the role of club President from 2009 to 2012, he was awarded a Life Membership in 2015. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Barrie Goodrick
29/09/1942 - 19/08/2015
Barrie passed away on August 19, 2015, a sad time for everyone who knew him. Affectionately known as Big Barrie, he joined the club in 2006 (Member #1231) and drove a big black 1946 Buick. Barrie was a regular on midweek runs, known for his larger-than-life personality, commanding voice, and great sense of humor. He was often called upon to play the role of Santa Claus at our Christmas events.
He loved life, his children, and his grandchildren, but above all, he cherished his 1946 Buick. Club members planned to take Barrie on his last trip to Bay to Birdwood.
Family, friends, and fellow car enthusiasts, including members of the Wolseley Club and the MRADMC, will greatly miss Barrie. He will join the car fraternity of those who have passed before him. Kate, along with the family and his mother, expressed their gratitude to the MRADMC for their support during this difficult time.

Gordon Cooper
3/05/1925 - 25/12/2012
Members of the club were saddened to learn of the passing of long-time member Gordon Cooper (Member #1012). Gordon joined the club in 1984, shortly after its founding, while living in Cherokee with his family. Having faced significant loss in the Ash Wednesday fires of 1983, where he lost a cherished collection of vehicles, Gordon found solace in the club, connecting with others who shared his passion for cars.
He was known for his generous spirit, often sharing knowledge and helping others with items he found while cleaning up after the fire. Visits to the Cooper home were memorable, often filled with conversation and camaraderie. Gordon proudly owned a classic 1949 Bentley and a vintage Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, which he shared with club members for years. Despite health challenges, Gordon attended club meetings regularly, with his family also deeply involved in the club.
He moved to Gisborne and continued attending meetings until about 2010. After the passing of his wife Pat, he spent his last years in care and passed away on Christmas Day 2012. Rest in peace, old mate.

The turnout at his funeral showed the significant impact he had on many people, clubs, and groups. He was a popular, valued, and respected member of the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club. His diverse collection of magnificently maintained classic cars served as an inspiration to other members.
Additionally, he was a knowledgeable and entertaining speaker, always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow members. We are richer for having known him, and he will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt sympathy to Bev and the family.
Derek Alan Rea
- 12/10/2010
On Tuesday, October 12, 2010, we lost a cherished member of the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club, Derek Rea (Member #1067). He joined the club in 1984 and was a loyal supporter known for his friendly conversations and storytelling.
Derek participated in numerous club events, including the Hanging Rock Car Show, and shared his adventures as a guest speaker. His anecdotes ranged from trips across the Nullarbor in a 1934 Dodge to memories of local history and wartime motor experiences. A talented musician, he played at many local dances and provided music for our presentation nights.
Despite losing his driver's license due to poor eyesight, he remained active with the club thanks to the support of fellow members. Derek was always engaging in new projects, whether restoring cars or playing music.
His funeral in Romsey was well-attended, a testament to the impact he had on many. Derek was a truly great Australian and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Fond memories of his stories, friendship, and support will remain with us always. Our deepest sympathies go to his family.
Barry Chapman
- 11/02/2010
We were deeply saddened to announce the passing of our well-regarded and respected member, Barry Chapman (Member #1160). For those who knew him, a profound sense of loss will be felt.
Barry was an active member of the club, dedicating his time and effort to one of his many passions. He served on the committee as Club Secretary during 2003 and 2004 and later as Vice President in 2006. His smiling face, wonderful style, and good-natured jokes will be greatly missed.
The club honoured Barry with a farewell run at his funeral on February 17th. The large turnout of members and others at his service clearly showed how fortunate we were to have Barry as one of our members.
CHAPMAN. - Barry. On Thurs. Feb. 11, 2010 A much respected and valued member of Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club. Fond memories of your quick wit, caring and considerate manner and ready jokes will remain with us always. Deepest sympathies to Collette and family.
Gary Rogers
28/12/1943 - 01/07/2007
Gary was a relatively new member of our club, although he had attended several club events before officially joining.
A passionate Packard enthusiast, Gary was well-known throughout the Packard community, and he generously shared his knowledge and assistance with others.
In early 2007, Gary learned that he had cancer. Understanding that he didn't have long to live, he passed away at the age of 63 after a brief illness. He left specific instructions for his funeral service; he didn't want mourning but instead wanted a celebration in his memory. And that's exactly what happened. The event was filled with storytelling and laughter, just as Gary would have loved.
His funeral service was so well attended that the chapel was overflowing, with many people standing outside unable to get in.
To Gary's wife, Muriel and his two children we extend our deepest sympathies. You will be missed, Gazza
Geoff Gatehouse

Ted Wiggett
10/04/1936 - 15/06/1999
It is with great sadness that I inform you all that Ted Wiggett (Membership #TBC) lost his long battle with illness on June 15, 1999. Ted was a Life Member of the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club (MRADMC). He served as Treasurer from 1988 to 1993 and was honored as Club Person of the Year in 1987 and 1993. In 1994, he received his Life Membership.
Ted dedicated countless hours to the club, often going above and beyond in his support, as well as sponsoring many club events. Those of us who knew him well recognized him as a true "doer" and a tireless worker for both the club and various organizations in Woodend. He began his passion for collecting vintage cars in 1986 when he joined the MRADMC, with his favorite being the 1954 300B Mercedes due to its body style.
It was heartening to see so many members at Ted's funeral, most of them arriving in their club cars, which showcased his popularity. Although he had been too ill to attend many meetings or outings in recent times, he remained very dear to our hearts. A tribute celebrating Ted's life was read at his funeral in Kyneton, before he was transported in Graeme Lemin's Chrysler hearse for his burial in Woodend.
John Howe
28 Aug 1998

He was involved in a car accident in Bulla on August 23, 1990. The Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club, along with the Satellite City Street Rod Club, provided him with a wonderful farewell, featuring numerous classic cars and hot rods. Nathan will be greatly missed at meetings and rallies.
