The "Cars and Chatter in April" event saw a great turnout, with everyone eager to sample Ted's culinary delights, this time featuring the Maltese favourite, Pastizzi. Attendees enjoyed lively conversations and had a wonderful time together, with a good number of classic cars on display.
April's Midweek Run took us to the Ballarat Woodworks Guild. Not everyone was able to depart from the club rooms after morning tea, as some members strayed off course, possibly due to the indulgent chocolate feast held before leaving. Once everyone gathered,
Max, the Vice President, welcomed us and guided us on a tour of their impressive facility, which dates back to the 1940s. We watched as club member Deb skillfully used a scroll saw to create an angel for an upcoming Arts Festival. Max and Andrew shared insights about the club, which has around 60 members. A recent donation of Californian Redwood from the Ballarat Botanic Gardens has provided a unique resource for the members. We admired the beautifully crafted items made by the members, including bowls, vases, and a striking document box, showcasing their exceptional skills.
After the tour, we headed to the Brown Hill Hotel for generous lunches. A big thank you to Pam and the MWR Team for organising another memorable day!
As autumn came to a close, the mornings became noticeably cooler, but that didn't prevent about 20 cheerful members from attending the clubrooms. We served hot tea and coffee alongside delicious homemade biscuits, and it was great to see everyone enjoying the lovely morning sunshine while mingling in the car park. Members enjoyed showing off their cars and sharing stories about their activities over the past month.
Meanwhile, Ted was busy in the kitchen preparing a tasty meal! He made pasta with a choice of beef or seafood sauce, which was a hit among attendees. Everyone pitched in to help with the cleanup, and afterwards, we returned outside to soak up more sunshine before heading off. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special shout-out to our amazing chef for the wonderful meal! We can't wait to see you all next month!
On May 19th, members attended the Gisborne Vintage Steam Society Steam Rally. Despite the weather, the turnout was impressive, marking the renaming of the Steam Engine shed to the Noel Smithwick Steam Shed.
We wrapped up May with the Biggest Morning Tea on the 28th, which raised funds for the Cancer Council. With over 60 guests in attendance, this was our largest turnout for the event. Members contributed a wonderful array of food, notably the West family's pumpkin soup and the Payne family's tomato soup.
After some fun games, including a memory game and a raffle, we raised approximately $2,800, with plans to increase this total. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success, especially Pam and the mid-week run team.
